The journal CHEST receives Impact Factor of 10.1
November 16, 2023
The journal CHEST®, a publication of the American College of Chest
Physicians® (CHEST), received a 2022 Journal Impact Factor of 10.1,
placing it in the top 10% of all respiratory journals. The journal
remains 5/35 in the category of critical care journals.
A proprietary measure owned and issued by Clarivate Analytics, the
Impact Factor is an assessment of a journal’s relevance based on the
frequency with which published content was cited in other journals
during the previous 2 years. In the 2022 review period, the journal
CHEST had 750 citable items that were referenced 7,544 times.
With an acceptance rate for original research averaging 8% to 10%, the
journal CHEST is a leading source of peer-reviewed, cutting-edge
original research in the multidisciplinary specialties of chest
medicine: pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine and related
disciplines. It is home to highly regarded clinical practice guidelines
and consensus statements that resonate with a broad audience of medical
professionals.
“We are proud to receive our second highest Impact Factor to date—second
only to content released during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic,”
says Peter J. Mazzone, MD, MPH, FCCP, Editor in Chief of the journal CHEST. “Given the amount
of research we publish year to year, a strong Impact Factor is an
important indicator of the quality of our content.”
The journal CHEST recently expanded its portfolio with the launch of two
new journals in early 2023. CHEST® Pulmonary and CHEST® Critical Care
feature specialized research offered through open access and cover a
spectrum of pulmonary and critical care medicine issues.
Similar to the journal CHEST, CHEST Pulmonary and CHEST Critical Care
accept submissions of original research, reviews, case reports and
commentaries. Exploring the fields further, the new journals have an
enhanced emphasis on medical decision-making, implementation science,
health services delivery, quality improvement, cost-effectiveness
analysis, policy reports, study design and more.
