Where do you work?
Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas.
What are your research interests?
Asthma and COPD, understanding health care disparities, and health care outcomes.
How did you become interested and involved in CHEST’s Networks?
My journey in the CHEST Networks started during the trainee lounge visit at CHEST 2014. I was introduced to the numerous opportunities that were available within the Networks that I could get involved with and how I could contribute to the CHEST mission. The following spring, I applied for a steering committee position and have been affiliated with CHEST Networks since 2015.
Are you involved in any other activities or volunteer positions at CHEST?
I have served in several leadership positions within CHEST and the CHEST Foundation. I am currently a member of the Scientific Program Committee and the Council of Networks, and I am Chair of the Airways Disease Curriculum Group for CHEST 2023.
What clinical research is most interesting to you right now?
Understanding health care disparities and managing asthma and COPD.
What are your hobbies?
Reading, traveling, and browsing the internet.
What is something you cannot live without (after family and friends)?
Good music (can be any genre or singer).
Is there anything else you’d like to share with your Network peers?
Being part of CHEST has been a very gratifying experience. I have been involved in educational content creation, annual meeting organization, guidelines development, etc, and I have also made some lifelong friendships. Most importantly, CHEST has helped me in my professional development and has opened doors to new opportunities and partnerships. I encourage you to consider getting involved in the CHEST Networks.
