Where do you work?
Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
What are your research interests?
Interstitial lung disease, lung transplantation, larynx-trachea transplantation, acute cellular rejection, antibody-mediated rejection, bronchiolitis obliterans, pulmonary fibrosis, and transplant-related infections.
What led you to join your Network?
I got involved in CHEST Networks through exposure at the CHEST Annual Meeting and early career engagement. I connected with mentors, attended sessions, and learned about the opportunities available to me. My involvement with the Diffuse Lung Disease and Lung Transplant Network began by attending sessions sponsored by them. My continued participation led to a leadership role and broader contributions.
What achievements are you most proud of contributing to within your Network?
Educational Development: Creating educational content, webinars, and materials for fellows and practitioners on lung transplant medicine
Clinical Guidance: Advancing knowledge in areas like metabolic issues and posttransplant airway complications
Professional Networking: Connecting professionals to discuss and improve care for transplant candidates and recipients
Advocacy and Research: Developing position statements and fostering research in the field
How has being in a Network benefited your career and your experience as a CHEST member?
By engaging with the Diffuse Lung Disease and Lung Transplant Network, I am better positioned to stay connected with the broader lung transplant community, fostering both personal growth and better outcomes for my patients. Joining the Network transformed my membership from passive access to active involvement, targeting my clinical interests. Participation in the Network keeps me at the forefront of clinical care for patients with complex conditions, including those with advanced lung disease and posttransplant complications. My active Network participation also helps me build my reputation.
What are your hobbies?
Parasailing, globe-trotting, and vintage cars.
What is something you cannot live without (after family and friends)?
Having a creative outlet like painting or reading to keep the mind engaged.
Is there anything else you'd like to share with your Network peers?
I am passionate about advancing multidisciplinary, patient-centered care and fostering collaboration across institutions to improve outcomes in advanced lung disease and transplantation. My involvement in CHEST and other professional societies has been instrumental in supporting innovation, education, and leadership development, and I look forward to continuing to contribute to the growth and impact of CHEST Networks.
